Ayurveda an ancient system of medicine has been into practice for thousand years. It is a part of a veda called Atharva veda. Ayurveda is a holistic science which believe in preserving the health of a healthy person and then treating the ailment. Its primary motive is to maintain the health of a healthy person and later one is secondary.
This body is said to be comprised of panchamahabhoota (aakash, vayu, agni, jal, prithvi), four indriyan (sense organs), mind and soul. Hence all these together is called “ayu” and study of this is called Ayurveda.
According to Ayurveda our body functions smoothly when all the three doshas are balanced. Vata is responsible for movement Pitta for metabolism and digestion Kapha for growth Treatment of Ayurveda revolves around these three doshas.
Imbalance of doshas results in certain diseases. Doshas may aggravate due to improper dietary intake, excessive exercise, not sleeping at night , stress etc. Proper life style pattern, yoga, meditation and diet are key to a healthy body which is now borrowed by the western world also.
IVF or In-vitro fertilization could be understood in 4 simples steps.
• Ovarian Stimulation- In a natural cycle, 2-3 follicles gets matured. But in IVF, More follicles are required. So, hormonal Injections are given to the patient to get the desired no of eggs. This is called ovarian stimulation. It is done from D2 of a cycle.
• Egg Retrieval- When the follicles are matured to required size, they are taken out/ retrieved from the ovaries under the ultrasound guidance with a minimal sedation. Further, the retrieved eggs are placed in a medium in some tray under sterilized environment and then shifted to in Incubator.
• Fertilization- Male semen sample is taken and best sperms are selected from that. Then, they are placed in incubator with the eggs retrieved and embryologist keeps a close check on their development to embryo or blast cyst.
• Embryo Transfer- The embryos are graded as per their quality like A grade, B grade etc by embryologist. The best embryos are selected and are placed in uterine cavity.
IVF success is only 25%. It can be increased with the increase in sperm and ovum quality. The best quality of sperm and ovum can be achieved with Ayurveda and Panchakarma.
Success rate of IVF can be increased by getting perfection in following parameters-
1. Endomentrial circulation- implantation of embryo depends upon the quality of endometrium. Circulation or blood flow between endometrium and myometrium should be good.
2. Environment of uterus- As per ayurveda, various females suffering from hyperacidity, burning sensation during coitus etc are also unable to conceive as embryo cann’t survive in raised temperature. They are developed at an ideal temperature in incubator. So balanced temperature and pH is very important.
3. Endometrial thickness- Endometrium is like a bed for the embryos transferred in the uterus. So, their thickness should be atleast above 10mm on the day of embryo transfer.
4. Sperm Quality- Now a days , we think that sperm concentration is the only parameter for sperm. But as per ayurveda Healthy Shukra dhatu is required for a healthy conception that could grow and assure success.
5. Egg Quality- Female egg is also equally important for a healthy embryo. So, it should of best quality.
6. Root Cause of infertility should be dissolved first like Endometriosis, adhenomyosis, pelvic inflammatory disease etc.
All the above parameters can be achieved with Ayurveda. Uttar Basti Therapy, Panchakarma procedures And ayurvedic medicines plays an important role in it. We at Aasha Ayurveda are successfully converting hopeless IVF failures to the parenthood.

If the tubes are completely blocked the egg is reabsorbed by the body like other cells. And if by any chance the egg gets fertilized while the tubes are blocked it gives rise to a dangerous situation called ectopic pregnancy.
Fallopian tubes blockage doesn’t have any symptoms and is usually diagnosed while treating for infertility. Tubal blockage is diagnosed through a test called a hysterosalpingogram (HSG). X-ray is used to view the uterus and blockages in the tubes.
Fallopian tubes connect ovaries to the uterus. The fimbriae at the end of the tube pull the egg and the egg then after fertilization travels to the uterus.
The function of the fallopian tube is to act as a pathway for the egg and sperm. The fallopian tube helps in moving the fertilized egg to the uterus. Thus we see that a fallopian tube has nothing to do with ovulation. Even if the tubes are damaged or blocked the normal ovulation takes place.
Yes it is possible to open the blocked fallopian tubes naturally. Consult an ayurvedic doctor to determine the line of treatment that is non invasive and with the use of natural herbal drugs. The severity of the blockage determines the type of treatment one requires for unblocking the tubes.
HSG is a test that is used to diagnose any blockage in the uterus. The method includes flushing the fallopian tubes with medicated liquid. The dye used passes through the uterus and then the tubes. If the tubes are clear the dye drains into the abdominal cavity. The concept is same as in uttara basti where medicated liquid is inserted in the uterus. HSG may or may not clear the tubal blockage. But to a large extent it depends on the liquid used for flushing. According to the studies when oil based substance was used, 40% achieved pregnancy whereas while using water based substance 29% got pregnant. Thus we can conclude with the statement that HSG test where the tubes are flushed has a beneficial effect on fertility.
Ayurvedic medicines have shown significant result in weight loss management, infertility treatment, stress management, chronic diseases, life-style disorder and many other diseases. Ayurveda maintains the health and balances the doshas. It aims at maintaining and improving the overall health of a person.
HSG is a test used for diagnosing tubal blockage. According to the studies when oil based substance was used, 40% achieved pregnancy whereas while using water based substance 29% got pregnant. Very few women might get pregnant few months after HSG.

Ayurvedic medicine has a significant impact on the overall health of a person. My experience with the holistic science of Ayurveda was great. There is significant increase in number of people opting for ayurvedic treatment. These days even the modern medicine is deriving its cure from plants. Ayurvedic medicines removes the cause of the disease from the roots with no side effects and no longterm complications.
Those who have done B.A.M.S come under the category of Vaidya but not doctor. Doctor word, is given by the British for people who have done MBBS. Purpose of both of them is to cure a patient. A vaidya who practices Ayurveda is a genuine vaidya.
The cure of a disease depends upon its severity. Ayurveda not only relieve the symptoms but also eliminates the root cause of the disease. It works on eliminating the disease and building the immunity of a person thereby avoiding any reoccurrence in future. Ayurvedic treatment takes less time if the treatment is taken at the earliest. Ayurvedic medicine taking long time to treat a disease is not true.
Ayurvedic treatment for endometriosis work on the following 4 aspects – Balance of vata dosha is the most important Balance of pitta dosha Elimination of toxins Strengthening the digestive system There are many dietary and life style changes, ayurvedic medicines and therapies that help in balancing the doshas. Rest is the second best remedy for balancing apana vata. Ayurvedic herbal treatment reduces the pain, unblocks the channels, reduces the endometrial tissues outside the uterus and reduces inflammation. The treatment aims to eliminate the root cause of the condition.
Panchakarma treatments are safe and effective in endometriosis.
1)Vamana or purgation with herbal medicine eliminates the toxins out of the body.
2)Abhyanga/snehana or massage – it enhances the lymphatic and blood circulation.
3)Swedana – it is a medicated steam bath.
4)Pizchil –it involves slow dripping of warm medicated oil on the body while doing massage.
5)Udvartana – the therapy eliminates the toxins from the lymphatic system.
6)Vasti chikitsa – it is the best therapy for pacifying vata dosha and the medicated enema is chosen as per the dosha.
The method involves administration of medicated oil/ghee through the urethra, rectum and vaginal route. Uttara basti is the term used when the basti therapy is given through uterine and vaginal route. It is the best treatment for gynecological disorders especially in endometriosis-associated infertility. Ayurvedic treatment has shown significant result in endometriosis. A right treatment plan helps in curbing the symptoms and balance the doshas.
Ayurveda and allopathy are totally different field hence it should not be compared in any aspect. Ayurveda is well known for its result in chronic illness where allopathy is not successful. Allopathy doctors though do not support ayurvedic medicine but are all in praise for the benefits and healing therapy of Ayurveda. Some allopathy doctors believe that Ayurveda is not being used to its full potential. Hence there is mixed view about ayurvedic medicine.
HSG is a test that determines the tubal blockage. The test has nothing to do with ovulation. Hence you can ovulate after the HSG test.
Off-course ayurvedic medicine works. Ayurveda has been into practice for thousand of years. Ayurvedic medicine is a systematic approach to health and wellness of an individual. It not only treats the symptoms of illness but also determines to eliminate the root cause. Ayurveda believes that disharmony between body, mind and soul causes illness. All illness is said to arise from poor metabolism. Thus ayurveda deals any disease by detoxifying the body and rejuvenating body, mind and spirit.
Ayurvedic medicines are holistic in nature and aims at maintaining the overall health of a person than just fighting diseases. Ayurvedic medicines are used in the form of oil, herbs, extracts, plants, decoction and etc. Ayurvedic medicines are usually safe and does not cause any complication if prescribed by a qualified ayurvedic doctor. There are some ayurvedic herbs that may cause certain side effects due to improper use. Many people take the drugs without prescription and are not aware of the risks and recommendation. Ayurvedic medicine may interact with other medication, it may be toxic to those who are undergoing chemotherapy for liver cancer. Thus it is really important to consult ayurvedic doctor before trying any herbal medicines.
The doshas vata-pitta-kapha are responsible for mental and physical health of a person. Vata is related to coldness and pitta with heat. To balance the doshasone must follow a proper lifestyle, diet etc. Some of the herbs for vata-pitta includes shatavari, amla, vidari kanda, amrataka, cardamom etc.
A certified and professional ayurvedic doctor will never use steroid mixed medicines. However there are some quacks that use steroid mixed ayurvedic medicines on the name of Ayurveda. Such medicines are very harmful and cause long-term adverse effects. A qualified and certified ayurvedic doctor will never use such medicines. To be on the safe side always ask your doctor how the medicine will affect you.
Ayurvedic medicines are very scientific and follow the ancient ayurvedic text. We all know that ayurvedic medicine is not just a single herb but is a formulation of many herbs. It is true that some of the ayurvedic medicine when used for a long term cause organ damage. To know how and why the damage is caused it is important to know the preparation of ayurvedic drugs. The preparation of ayurvedic drugs needs lot of time and effort. Ayurvedic medicine that contains ‘bhasma’ (ash) when used over a long period of time causes organ damage and those without ‘bhasma’ are safe to use for long duration. Ayurveda provides holistic approach thus people are more inclined towards ayurvedic medicine.
This is one of the most common question patients have. Ayurvedic and allopathy medicine is generally not recommended together. Both the medicines have its own way of working. Ayurvedic medicine is prescribed according to the imbalance of doshas. Evry medicine has its own pathway of action. It is advised to consult your doctor before taking any such medicines. This will keep you safe and you can avoid uncertain drug interaction and side effects.
Fallopian tubes are the part of reproductive system which act as a pathway for eggs and is a place where egg and sperm meet to form embryo. If both the tubes are blocked it is impossible for a woman to get pregnant. However if one of the tube is blocked and the other tube is clear one can get pregnant. But if there is partial tubal blockage there are high chances of ectopic pregnancy.
Yes blocked fallopian tubes can be se en on ultrasound. Sonohysterogram is an ultrasound very similar to HSG test. It uses the sound waves to get the picture of fallopian tubes.
No, fallopian tube does not grow back. But in very rare cases after tubal ligation pregnancy has been observed. In such cases the tubes grow back and new passage is formed that allows an egg to get fertilized with sperms.
Ayurveda recommends the following factors to become pregnant fast and naturally –
1) Ritucharya – a specific mode of living is advised from the 1st day of menstruation. A woman should avoid sexual intercourse, heavy work, tikshana ahara, day sleeping etc.
2) Panchakarma is an effective therapy for all problems. The method includes snehana, swedana, vamana, virechan, basti karma and nasya. All these method eliminates the toxins from the body including reproductive system, prevents diseases, enhances immunity and prepares the uterus for a healthy conception. After the therapy the couple must follow satvic diet atleast 3 months before conception.
3) DIET AND LIFESTYLE Ayurveda defines two types of food i.e bringhana and vrishya that help to enhance fertility. Bringhana food enhances all the seven dhatus, resulting in enhanced shukra dhatu. Vrishya foods have a direct impact on shukra dhatu. For a healthy reproductive tissue it is important that all the seven dhatus are healthy.
Yoga and pranayama is helpful in relaxing the physical, mental and emotional stress for both partners and it helps in getting pregnant fast without any complication. The yoga poses recommended for women are parvatasana, baddhakonasana, virbhadrasana, trikonasana etc. These yoga poses relaxes the perineal muscle and helps in successful pregnancy.
If one of the fallopian tube is blocked and the other tube is clear there is always chance of getting pregnant successfully. The only concern is that the passage of the tube should be totally clear as partial blockage can cause ectopic pregnancy.
Menstrual cycle is the indication of the health of a female reproductive system. This may get affected from various factors such as diet, mental stress, life style, lot of physical work out etc. According to Ayurveda the main causes of infertility in females are as follows- The ‘vata dosha’ is mainly responsible for causing defect in the eggs and hence many times responsible for infertility. The ‘vata’ may get imbalanced due to fear, stress, anxiety, trauma, fasting, eating cold-dry and light substances. ‘Pitta dosha’ results in scarring of the fallopian tube and inhibits descent of the ovum, thus causing infertility. Blocked fallopian tubes or thickened fallopian tubes, uterine fibroids is caused due to aggravated ‘kapha doha’ causing infertility.
About 10% of women have infertility issue. The infertility cases amongst female is growing now a days due to poor life style and poor dietary habits.
Infection in the fallopian tube is commonly found in women between 20 to 40 years of age. It is commonly diagnosed when a woman complains of infertility. In majority of the cases of genital tuberculosis, fallopian tubes are the first source of infection. In 90% of the cases both the tubes are involved and this can stop a woman from getting pregnant.
A woman can face difficulty in getting pregnant if either or both the couples are facing infertility related issues. Female infertility related common issue includes ovulation problems, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, poor quality of egg, tubal factors, uterine fibroids. Male infertility related common issue includes varococele, infection, ejaculation issue, tumors, hormonal imbalances, problems with sexual intercourse, certain medications, prior surgeries etc. Environmental factor is a common problems causing infertility in both the gender. Thus these are the factors that prevent a woman from getting pregnant.
Fertility declines with advancing age and the rate of decline varies from woman to woman. Age is an important factor affecting fertility in men and women. Females are more affected by age related fertility. A woman less than 35 years of age has high chances of getting pregnant. Those who are above 40 years of age has less chances of pregnancy

Ovulation is a process when the egg travels down the fallopian tube for fertilization. It generally happens once in a month, few weeks after the first day of periods. If you can recognize the signs of ovulation, you are in a better position to time sex with your partner for getting pregnant fast. Given below are the signs that indicates ovulation – 1)Basal body temperature rises slightly when you ovulate. It is a temperature measured when your body is at rest. 2)Keep a record of your menstrual cycle. If your cycle is between the normal range of 25 – 35 days, it is easy to experience the signs of ovulation. Common symptoms include cramps, breast tenderness, mood swings, increase in cervical mucus, sense of smell increases, pain in lower abdomen, light spotting, change in libido.
Mostly abortion has no effect on fertility or any impact on next pregnancy. There are many women who have had successful pregnancy after abortion. There are 2 types of abortion – surgical and medical. Medical abortion has lower risk compared to the surgical. Abortion in early pregnancy reduces the risk of complications. Medical abortion is the one when you take oral medicines and surgical abortion includes D&C. Surgical abortion causes scarring of the uterine wall and hence might become difficult to get pregnant again and lead to pregnancy loss in future. If you have any question related to pregnancy after abortion, consult your doctor.
Polycystic ovary syndrome, hypothalamic dysfunction, premature ovarian failure, damaged or blocked fallopian tube, endometriosis, uterine fibroids and other cervical causes affects female fertility. Apart from above disorders age, smoking, weight, sexual history and alcohol affects female fertility to a large extent.
It is advised to conceive before the age of 35 as we all know the quality and quantity of egg declines with advancing age. If proper care is taken through ayurvedic life style it is easy and safe to get pregnant even after 35.

Ayurveda is a widely known medicine not only in India but also in the western countries. It has been trusted for ages as it is 100% natural. Ayurvedic treatment that includes special therapies is also effective in preventing tubal blockage.
The panchakarma treatment starts with snehana (oleation) with bala taila followed by swedana (hot fomentation) on lower abdomen and lower back before administration of uttarabasti. Before administration of uttara basti yoni prakshalana is done with a medicated decoction to sterilize the peri vaginal part. With the help of cannula medicated decoction is passed into the uterine cavity with head low position. The uttara basti treatment acts in 2 ways, local and systemic. In tubal blockage the action is more local. The medicine used is anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. The patient might feel certain discomfort after the therapy but the uttara basti method is a safe therapeutic measure with no side effects. It has a significant result in unblocking the tubes.

The PCOS causes in Ayurveda can be intake of excess sweets and kaphaja foods. Because of this kapha gets aggravated. Artava dhatu is responsible for reproduction in female and artavaha srotas is a body channel that nourishes and enables the function of carrying the ovum to the uterus. PCOS occurs due to kapha dosha blocking vata and pitta. There is obstruction of the movement and suppression of the transformation process.
